Press Releases
Press Releases is under Content in the left-hand menu. It's a separate collection from News — use it for official releases and newsroom content specifically, rather than general news and announcements.
Writing a press release
- Click Press Releases in the left-hand menu.
- Click Create New.
- Fill in the Title.
- Check the Publication Date — it fills in with today automatically.
- Optionally fill in Source Name if the release is coverage from an outside publication (e.g. Austin American-Statesman) rather than your own release.
- Write the release using blocks.
- Save as a Draft while you work, then Publish when it's ready.
Like News, Press Releases has a full draft workflow — save your work as a draft, it autosaves as you type, and you can schedule a release for a future date. This is different from Events and Documents, which publish the moment you save.
The fields
| Field | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Title | The headline. Required |
| Publication Date | The date shown, and what the list is sorted by. Required |
| Source Name | The outlet's name, for coverage rather than your own releases |
| Description | Short summary for newsroom cards |
| Categories | Used for filtering and grouping |
| Card Image | The picture shown on newsroom cards |
| Old Site URL | Only relevant to releases carried over from the previous website |
Deleting and redirects
Deleting a press release is permanent, and any link to it stops working. If you're retiring an old release rather than correcting it, consider a redirect instead — see Redirects, which covers Press Releases as well as Pages and News.
