FAQs and Legal FAQ topics
FAQs is under Content in the left-hand menu. It holds every question-and-answer entry on the site — and it's used in two different ways, which is worth understanding before you add anything.
Two kinds of FAQ
Ordinary FAQs have no topic. They don't appear anywhere on their own — they show up wherever an FAQ block has been added to a page. This is the everyday case: add the entry here, then make sure a page has the block. See Pages and the page builder.
Legal FAQ questions belong to a Legal FAQ Topic and do have a page of their own — the topic page lists every question under it. This is the large, imported Legal FAQ library (thousands of questions across roughly 150 topics), and it's addressable and searchable in a way ordinary FAQs aren't.
Which one an entry is comes down to one field: Topic. Leave it empty for an ordinary, block-placed FAQ. Set it to attach the question to a Legal FAQ topic page.
Adding a question
- Click FAQs in the left-hand menu.
- Click Create New.
- Type the Title — the question.
- Write the Text — the answer. Both are required.
- If this is a Legal FAQ, set Topic.
- If this is a Legal FAQ, set Last Updated — the date the answer was last reviewed. Members judge whether legal guidance still applies by this date, so keep it current when you revise an answer.
- Click Save.
There is no draft. Saving publishes the entry immediately, wherever it's shown.
Legal FAQ Topics
Legal FAQ Topics is also under Content. Each topic is a real page on the website, listing every question that belongs to it.
- Click Legal FAQ Topics in the left-hand menu.
- Click Create New.
- Type the Title — e.g. Advertising, Agency, Copyright.
- Optionally set a Parent topic, if this one nests under a broader one (the source index is two levels deep — most topics are top-level, some sit under a small number of parent topics).
- Optionally write a Description, shown above the questions on the topic page.
- Set Members Only if this specific topic should be restricted — most Legal FAQ topics are public by default.
- Click Save.
The topic's FAQs tab shows every question attached to it, so you can see at a glance whether a topic is empty or under-populated.
⚠️ Changing a topic's Members Only setting or its slug re-indexes every question under it, because the topic's gating and the topic's URL are what site search relies on for each question. This can take a moment on a large topic — that's expected, not a fault.
Writing good entries
Write the question the way a member would ask it. "How do I renew my membership?" gets found; "Membership renewal procedure" does not.
One question per entry. If an answer has two halves people ask about separately, make two entries.
Keep answers focused. If an answer needs several paragraphs and its own supporting pages, it probably wants a page of its own, with the FAQ answer pointing at it.
Who can do what
Admins, Editors and Authors can create and edit FAQs and topics. Only Admins and Editors can delete either.
Removing a question
Deleting is permanent and immediate. If a question is only out of date rather than wrong, editing the answer (and updating Last Updated) is nearly always better than deleting — the question is evidence that people were asking it.
Where this appears on the website
Legal FAQ topics have their own page at /legal-and-ethics/legal-resources/legal-faqs/ followed by the topic's slug. Ordinary FAQs have no address of their own — they only appear wherever you've placed the FAQ block.
