Editing the homepage
The homepage is not in Pages. Looking for it there is the most common wrong turn — it isn't listed, and there is nothing to find.
The homepage has its own screen called Home, under Collections in the left-hand menu.
How the homepage is built
The homepage is made of blocks — sections stacked one above the other, in the order you put them. There is only ever one homepage; you edit it, you never create a new one.
When you open Home, the blocks are collapsed so you see the running order at a glance. Click any one to open it.
The blocks available here
The homepage draws from its own set of ten blocks — not the full library available on an ordinary page:
Hero, Banner, Slider, Partners, Feature Cards, Award, Statistics, Regional Map, News Highlight, Events List.
Three of these pull in content you manage elsewhere rather than content you type directly into the block:
- Feature Cards shows cards from the Feature Cards collection under Content. Create a card there first — Title, Description, an icon, a background Color, and what it links to — then choose it in the block. Don't try to write the card's text inside the block itself; edit it at the source and it updates everywhere it's used.
- Regional Map draws on the Regions screen under Site Features — the tab labels, region names and the association list under each region. See Regions.
- News Highlight and Events List pull automatically from your News and Events collections. You don't type items into these blocks; they stay current on their own.
If a card, region or article looks wrong on the homepage, fix it at its source collection — it updates everywhere it's used.
Making a change
- Click Home under Collections.
- Click the block you want to change. It opens.
- Make your change.
- Click Save at the top.
Adding a block
- Scroll to the bottom of the block list.
- Click Add Block.
- Choose one of the ten.
- Fill it in.
- Save.
Reordering
Drag a block by the handle on its left. The order here is the order down the homepage, top to bottom.
Click Save after dragging. Reordering is not saved automatically.
Removing a block
Click the × on the block, then Save. The layout field is required, so the homepage can't be left completely empty — if you're replacing a section, add the new block before removing the old one.
Before you save
The homepage is the first thing every visitor sees, and there is no draft version of it — saving publishes immediately. If you're making a large change, do it in one sitting rather than leaving it half-finished.
Unlike Header and Footer, there's no version history to fall back on here either. A save on this screen is the one save in the whole CMS with no way back at all — not even a restorable earlier version. See Drafts and version history.
